Please verify your College Board account before registering for the exam:
When registering for the AP exam through KAEC, you must enter the same information as in your College Board account and AP Profile. Please verify your legal English name (as per your passport), email address, and other personal information in your College Board account and AP Profile before registering for the exam.
If the name in your College Board account and AP Profile is not your legal name, you must request a name correction from College Board.
If you do not have a College Board account, create one using your legal English name (as per your passport) and email address, and then register for the AP exam with KAEC using the same information.
AP Exam
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program enables high school students to engage in college-level coursework and earn college credit upon successful completion of exams. Achieving qualifying AP Exam scores can lead to tuition savings, reduced time to degree completion, and enhanced recognition during college admissions. AP courses span a wide range of academic disciplines. To determine a specific college’s AP credit and placement policies, students can utilize the AP Credit Policy search tool.
AP Exams are administered annually in May, following a schedule specific to each subject. The exams typically consist of multiple-choice and free-response sections, with certain subjects requiring portfolio submissions or performance assessments.
If a student’s high school does not offer AP courses or lacks the facilities to administer exams, they can register for the exams with Korean-American Educational Commission (KAEC). Since May 2008, KAEC has been providing support for students seeking to take AP Exams.
Before registering for the AP exam, be sure to familiarize yourself with the registration process.
AP Exam Registration
Before Exam Registration
Please check the eligibility of the AP Exam.
AP Exam Eligibility
Only high school-affiliated students can take exams, at either their own enrolled high school or at other AP-authorized high schools and test centers.
“High school-affiliated” means:
students actively enrolled at a high school, or
high school-level students who are homeschooled, participate in independent study, and/or attend virtual schools; and
any actively enrolled students who may be prepared to take an AP Exam prior to the ninth grade, or
recent high school graduates who need a specific AP Exam for university admission.
Please check your personal information on your College Board account before registering for the exam. Log in to your AP account (or create one) so you know what name and email and other information are on the account AND provide that same exact information during the registration.
Learn more about important details regarding the College Board account
If you do not have a College Board account, you must create one using your legal name (as it appears on your passport or ID), email, birthday and other information. Ensure the same information is used when registering for the AP exam at KAEC.
If you already have a College Board account, update it to reflect your legal name if it currently does not.
For students with multiple College Board accounts:
Contact AP Services for Students to request account consolidation so that you have only one AP ID. Ensure the consolidated account uses your legal name.
For students who have previously taken AP, SAT, or PSAT:
Use your existing College Board account and do not create an additional one.
Important: Each year, students face issues on exam day because they did not use their legal name on their College Board account and AP Profile. To avoid such problems, always create and update your College Board account using your legal name as it appears on the passport or ID you will bring to the test center.
After registering for the exam, please follow the instructions on the confirmation screen or in the email sent to pay the AP exam fees.
