The Korean International Education Administrators (KIEA) Program began in 1995 as the Korean counterpart to the American International Education Administrators (AIEA) Program, making the exchange of international education professionals between Korea and the United States two way. Open to individuals involved in the supervision or management of international education activities in Korea, either through higher education institutions or non-profit exchange organizations, the program offers two weeks of guided exposure to the American higher education system. Grantees visit colleges and universities, as well as government and private sector agencies, and meet with relevant personnel in order to become acquainted with the philosophy, organization, and management of international programs. As Korea remains a popular study abroad destination for American students, international education professionals returning to Korea are better placed to understand both the cultural and educational context of students with whom they regularly work, while contributing to the overall strength of international education in Korea.
