Now accepting applications for Fall Quarter 2010
UCLA Extension, in collaboration with the UCLA Department of Applied Linguistics, is pleased to announce a new gold seal graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL).
Beginning fall 2010, the 9-month graduate-level program welcomes students who wish to advance their careers in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.
The program is designed for students who:
· Want to teach English to non-native speakers in the U.S. and abroad
· Wish to expand current TESL/TEFL knowledge and skills
· Seek advanced study in TESOL, applied linguistics, foreign language teaching, education, or related fields
· International teachers and recent graduates who wish to further their education and career
The limited-enrollment program meets during the day on the UCLA campus and is approved for international student (F-1) visas.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, 3.0 grade point average (GPA), and 3 letters of recommendation, and English proficiency for international students: minimum 110 TOEFL (iBT); 7.5 IELTS (Academic Module).

Due to the mandatory furlough plan adopted by the UC Regents in response to California's budget crisis, Extension will be closed for the Memorial Day Weekend, including Friday, May 28.
