International Undergraduate Preparation Program (IUPP)

To support students intending to apply for admission to UCI or other U.S. colleges or universities, we now offer a new program for international high-school graduates who wish to improve their academic and/or language skills. UCI Extension’s comprehensive, 9-month International Undergraduate Preparation Program (IUPP) gives qualified international high school graduates essential skills to help them succeed academically, culturally, and linguistically as they prepare to apply to a bachelor’s degree program in the United States. The IUPP provides maximum support under ideal conditions and helps your advisees improve their chances of being admitted as an international freshman.

Features of the IUPP

·        An accredited academic program tailored to the needs of individual students.

·        After linguistic and cultural preparation, enrollment in undergraduate courses that carry transferrable credits towards an undergraduate degree at UCI, if admitted.

·        One-on-one academic counseling from a qualified, dedicated academic advisor; support for SAT preparation; and assistance with undergraduate application.

·        A 20-hour University Skills course entitled Ame rican & Academic Culture Course, which provides strategies for academic success and cultural awareness.

·        Credit-bearing UC undergraduate courses that help applicants successfully obtain a student visa.

·        Making participants comfortable with the UCI campus, its abundant resources, and its academic rigor.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in our efforts to identify top high schools in your region, including international high schools, so that we can directly inform principals and guidance counselors of these new and valuable educational opportunities. Please email any high school names and contact information to avolkman@uci.edu.
