The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State will open PY2007 competition for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program. The FLTA program is a nine-month, non-degree program funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs aimed at strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities, and some high schools. This program also aims to provide future teachers of English with the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of U.S. society and culture.
Selection decisions will be announced by the end of May, 2008 and the major requirements of FLTA activities are outlined below: |

Recipients will: |
|
| |
|
| 1. |
provide assistance by teaching up to two courses of Korean language per semester. |
|
| 2. |
participate in community events and campus activities, and play a leading role in facilitating Korean cultural events. |
|
| 3. |
organize and run a Korean language club. |
|
| 4. |
enroll in at least two courses per semester; one course must be in U.S. studies and the remaining course in English language teaching. |

Applicant¡¯s field should be English or English Education and applicant at minimum should possess the equivalent of a B.A. degree by February, 2008.
Eligible applicants are English lecturesr at the college/university level, English teachers at secondary schoosl,and seniors or graduate students majoring in English/English Education |

Applicants must be between 21 and 29 years old at the time of application. |
|
| 4. |
Applicants should have a TOEFL score of no less than 213 (CBT), 79(IBT) or IELTS: 6 |

Restrictions:

If an applicant has a future plan to pursue further study in the U.S. upon completion of the FLTA program, he/she should not apply for this program. . No extension requests will be allowed. |

Dependents are not allowed to accompany FLTA grantees. |
|
|
